friendly reminders:

  • you don’t have to be productive every day
  • you are worthy even if all you did today was get out of bed
  • there are people out there who care about you
  • your existence makes a difference
  • if something bothers you, then it bothers you. no one has the right to tell you otherwise
  • you are allowed to take up space
  • there is no ‘right way’ to grieve
  • you cannot put a time limit on emotions
  • your likes and interests are valid and they matter
  • it’s okay to take your time in doing things. not everyone can do everything at the same pace

cant wait to see what DA4-vital piece of lore or info bioware puts in extra material instead of their playable game this time

Bioware writers yet again: if you know, you know ;)

Me: i just paid you £55

I calculated how much it would cost, in USD specifically, to get every single existing piece of DA media that will likely have some important snippet of information about DA4. This is purely if someone is purchasing these in a digital format wherever possible, according to their prices on Dark Horse Comics:

  • Trespasser (DAI DLC, which needs to be purchased separately, or as part of a more expensive GotY bundle): $15
  • Magekiller: $11
  • Knight Errant: $11
  • Deception: $9
  • Blue Wraith: $11 (unusual, as it’s the full 5-volume price, despite only being 3 volumes)
  • Dark Fortress: $12 (again, only 3 volumes)
  • Tevinter Nights: $12 (this according to google ebooks)
  • Absolution: Netflix subscription, so either the free trial or $10
  • The Missing: $8 (this is taking into account the 3 unreleased volumes, and calculating that they all will cost $1.99, as the current one does)

Bringing our grand estimated total to $89-$99.

These purchases would, I am willing to guess, all be necessary for a complete understanding of DA4 lore, premises, and potential quests. In order to understand Blue Wraith/Dark Fortress, you have to have read Deception, and to understand Ser Aaron and Vaea’s cameo in that, you have to have read Knight Errant, and to understand the characters who kick off the plot that Vaea gets roped into in Knight Errant, you have to have read Magekiller, and of course, Trespasser gives us our basic setup for what all is even happening in DA4. Absolution gives us a big ol’ surprise ending that takes us back to Kirkwall, and I’d bet that The Missing tells us potentially how we got to that point, or the aftermath of it, and Blue Wraith/Dark Fortress includes a reveal that could easily connect to Absolution’s reveal or potentially make its way into DA4 (red lyrium, anyone?). And then Tevinter Nights is a collection of short stories, and it serves as a big smorgasbord of potential lore details or potential cameos for side quests to choose from.

And if you don’t think Trespasser should count in this list, as it’s more a part of DAI, I understand; that still leaves our total at $74-$84 for just the purchase of extraneous materials to understand DA4. That’s the kind of money you’ll likely need to pay for a full understanding of this game.
